The translation project for the “Onobasulu” language group in Papua New Guinea was launched back in 1996. Over the past 10 years, an employee of Wycliffe Switzerland has also been involved as a translation consultant. After several partial publications of individual books, the local church was finally able to celebrate the handover of the complete New Testament in January 2026! Pastor Agilu, a local missionary who was one of the first to bring the Gospel to the Onobasulu, expressed his gratitude at the celebration: “We have brought the Good News to the Onobasulu, you have now brought the Bible. Thank you very, very much!”
A milestone for the Onobasulu: hearing, reading and understanding the Word of God in their language!
