From October 2024 to October 2025, Paola worked with Latin Link in Colombia:
“I worked with a church in Chía. It is called Iglesia Wesleyana. The church had a fundación in Fagua, a village just outside Chía, which is rather poor. The foundation offered homework help and the children were always given something small to eat. On Saturdays, we shared a message from the Bible and played with the children. On Wednesday evening we had a program especially for the young people from the Fundación called Alpha. It was about the basics of faith and the young people were given space to ask questions – it was also a good opportunity to invite their friends.
At the beginning, I wasn’t sure exactly what my job was. Doors kept opening for me to work with young people – I was very grateful for that. For example, I wanted to organize a worship night because I really missed something like that. My pastor, who accompanied me, gave me a lot of freedom for my ideas. Thanks to his support, we were able to organize a worship night for young people.
I also had the opportunity to lead a Bible group for young women. At one of our meetings, I experienced a particularly beautiful moment: first we played cards, then we read the Bible together, talked about it and finally prayed for each other. Without me asking for feedback, a girl said afterwards how grateful she was for this group – that she could find peace and recharge her batteries in the Bible group. That meant an incredible amount to me because it came from the heart.
It was a confirmation that what I’m doing is right.”
